Serious Focus

This is how I look when I watch my Barbie video.  A giant chocolate chip cookie could pass in front of me and I wouldn't even notice.

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Me!

One...

Two...

Three...

I prefer the icing!

I like the week-long birthday celebration!  Although I still had to do my normal Tuesday things today (school, therapy) we celebrated with more cake this evening with my big sisters and brother.

My BIG three year old girl

Dearest Victoria Pearl,

Your daddy's most common utterance right now is, "Gosh, she looks so big."  Reluctantly (does a mom ever accept that her child is growing up so quickly?), I agree with him as I let out the hem in your pants that were too long just a couple of months ago.    I watch your hems shorten and your ponytail get longer, which are undeniable signs that you are getting older.  I celebrate your continued growth and love watching your personality develop, but I can't help but mourn the passing of the precious baby years.

Speaking of babies, I wanted to share something with you...something that I often don't even remember now that you are here - and that is just how much you were wanted and loved.  You see, I had wanted a baby for a long while.  It took three years of many ups and downs before you finally came along.  During those years of trying, I wanted "a baby", but I know now that it was you that I wanted.  You, my dear, are my dream come true.   I'll never have those baby years back, but I have you as we journey through toddlerhood and beyond, and there is no place I would rather be.

Happy Birthday, Dream Girl!

Love,
Mommy

Happy Birthday Party Day

Although my birthday isn't until Tuesday, we started celebrating a few days early.  We had my party at the new "circus tent" (aka our new house), with a circus/carnival theme.  There were games, popcorn, cotton candy, pizza, cake, general mayhem and the very best face-painting, balloon-twisting clown in-the-whole-wide-world.  Thanks to all my friends for coming to celebrate my birthday!

Back to School

I was raring to go that morning, but by that evening...

...I was one tired little girl.

After an almost seven week break, I headed back to school this morning.  Although I insisted I did not want to go unless Mommy stayed with me, as soon as I got there I squirmed to get down and ran to hug everyone.  My teacher Rachel reported that I had a great day, and she said I had made noticable gains with my speech.  YEAH!

The Best Spoon-Licker

Just doing my part to help clean up...I am not sure why Mommy insists upon washing the spoon after I finish. There's nothing left on it.

Home Speech Lessons

My speech therapy is something I do at home with Mommy also, although she tries to incorporate it into my play. Today we put toothpicks into Play-Doh, but what we were really doing was working on the K and H sounds...poKe, Hole,

Max's Birthday Party

The Jigglebug Express train was there to give us rides.

The Birthday Boy

Mommy and Me going for a ride...

Whee!!!

Max's creative mom made his cool CARS cake.

I am ALWAYS the last kid at the cake table. In this photo, a good ten minutes had passed since the last kid left the cake table, but I am still working on cleaning my plate.

Trevor's Basketball Game

Tonight we went to see my nephew Trevor play in a basketball game. He is in 6th grade at Hyde Park. He is definitely following in the family footsteps of being a natural athlete. I found a basketball to bounce, but we'll have to see if I follow in those footsteps.

Variations of NO

Since I don't have too many words in my vocabulary, I sure try hard to make the most and best use of the ones I do have...especially the word NO. I have started to say it in a string, with a sing-song melody to it with an "understood" message of, "That's the silliest thing you have every proposed, Mommy." I have also started to say, "No, Ma'am." Unfortunately, it's not said in response to something like, "Victoria, do you want a third helping of vegetables?" Instead, it's said in response to something like, "Victoria, let's go brush your teeth," and it 's dripping with sass and extra syllables...doesn't that sort of count as celebration in my speech development???

Christening the House

Mommy doesn't neccessarily need an excuse to pop open a bottle of champagne, but she welcomes opportunities to celebrate. Tonight we went to our new house, ordered pizza and drank some bubbly. We toasted to a home filled with love, happiness and good times shared with friends and family.

Brrrrr!

It was 12 degrees this morning! That's cold for Alaska, so imagine how we Texans feel!

Bleh!

So, it's no big secret that I am a picky eater. Mommy says it's one thing for me to look at my plate and decide not to eat, but it's quite another for me to look at it and then stick out my tongue and say, "Bleh!" She is working hard to teach me good manners and she thinks this is definitely a move in the wrong direction.

New House

Daddy signing and signing and signing...

I got two cookies and a balloon!

In a recent post there was a brief mention of our new house. Well, today it was made official. We closed on our new house, located in the Westminster Glen subdivision. It is a lovely home, but most importantly, it is one level. The move will be bittersweet, given that we love our current location, this is the only house I have ever known, the views we have, and that Daddy's brother designed and built this home for Daddy. Lots of heart, soul and memories are within the walls of this home. We are certain the new house will also become a special home. We are going to take our time with the move...I'll keep you updated!

Daddy Said What???

This afternoon Daddy had the football game(s) on while I watched a movie on my DVD player. Mommy asked Daddy about a play, and he responded, "I don't know. I was watching the movie." What????? Then later, Mommy overheard him saying, "Victoria, could you move over so Daddy can see the screen?" What?????

So Far, So Good...

We ate LOTS of black-eyed peas (well, Mommy and Daddy did) to help with good luck in 2010. My resolutions for this year are to have no more binkies and no more diapers...oh wait, those are Mommy's resolutions for me.
