Brownie Batter

Yummy!

Licking Batter off my Dress...Nice...

Messy Face

Tasting the Finished Product

Most of you who read my blog are in the same boat I am, but the folks in Pennsylvania and Oregon and beyond aren't, so I feel the need to tell you...IT'S REALLY, REALLY HOT here. When I ask to go swimming during the day, Mommy tells me it's too hot. If it is too hot to go swimming, it's REALLY, REALLY HOT! Instead we find things to do inside. Yesterday we made brownies, which I almost did all by myself. I poured everything in the bowl, added the egg and stirred. I, of course, got to lick the spoon and when there was nothing else on it, I proceeded to lick my dress where some batter dripped. I am not one to waste good chocolate.

Dzo David Hermes

This week we went to Bryan to visit my new cousin Dzo. As I have mentioned before, he is from Latvia, and my Uncle Randy and his family have adopted him! He just turned eleven. He is learning English quickly and is so happy to be a part of his new family...and we are happy too! Notice that he is already wearing an Aggie shirt...WHOOP!

An Example...

A few posts ago, I mentioned how I sometimes like to "help" Mommy with her projects around the house. This is an example of how I "help" her with the laundry.

New Easel

Mommy and I went to IKEA today, and I got an easel. I have started to be more and more interested in art projects, so this will be a great addition to our house!

The Color Wheel

On today's episode of Max & Ruby, they showed how mixing colors made new colors:

red + blue= purple

red + yellow = orange

yellow + blue = green

Later, during a painting session, I discovered the color that is made when you mix all the colors together. It can best be described as a brownish/greenish shade of goo. I sure had fun painting it!

Hyatt Lost Pines

Mommy and I just returned from the Hyatt Lost Pines and gosh did we have fun! In addition to the normal fun activities of staying in a hotel (jumping on the bed and running down the long hallways), at the Lost Pines there is a great pool with a beach, a lazy river, a playscape, a movie on the lawn and s'mores by the fire every evening, lots of room to roam and run...and many other activities I will get to do when we go there when I am older. We give it an A+ for being a kid-friendly place!

Pool Time (Finally)

One of the nice things about our pool is the beautiful canopy of oak trees that surrounds it. Unfortunately, the trees also keep it shaded, which means it tends to stay COLD. We reluctantly decided to trim some of the limbs a couple of weeks ago (sure, the trees look good, but if you can't swim, why have a pool?), and it worked like a charm. The water was 88 degrees today and felt wonderful!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Mommy is extra productive when dealing with stress, and we have had a bit of that around our house the past couple of months! Today, she decided to go through old photos and organize them. This normally would be something she would do during my nap, since my "help" is often more of a hindrance. Instead, we sat and looked at photos of Mommy and Daddy's wedding, their childhoods, vacations they took B.V. (before Victoria), etc. Of particular interest to me were these photos of Mommy when she was a little girl. In one photo, she is exactly the age I am now. I am rarely without a doll in my arms and now I know it's genetic!

Cupcake Saturday

In the Foam Pit at Extreme Fun

Jake, the Birthday Boy - Party One

Carsyn, the Birthday Girl - Party Two

No Suit? No Problem!

This is what happens to a regular diaper when you go swimming!

Today, I was lucky enough to attend two birthday parties. In addition to the general fun surrounding a birthday party, they were timed perfectly for me to have a cupcake both for lunch and dinner. That's my version of an ideal day!

The first party was for my nephew (yes, that's right) Jake, who turned 6! Jake's birthdays are extra special because he was born three months early and spent about ten weeks in the hospital. Since then, he's been growing and growing and is already 6! (chocolate cupcake with blue frosting)

The next party was for our friend Carsyn, who turned 1! Watching a one-year-old dive into her cake was so much fun! There was a baby pool in the back yard, and even though I did not bring my bathing suit or have a change of clothes, I jumped right in. (red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting)

Fancy Nancy Would be Proud

When asked if you want to play dress-up or read a book, you really don't have to make the choice.

MINE!!!!!

It was bound to happen. After all, I am TWO! Just a month ago, in my end-of-year report at school, I was described by my teacher as the class's "super sharer". She said that I could just hear another child talk about something, and I would bring it to him or her. Mommy was so proud...then yesterday, I had a couple of my friends over, and I didn't want them to touch anything that belonged to me...not my crayons, not my dress-up jewelry, not my magnifying glass or binoculars, not my tea set and CERTAINLY NOT MY DOLLS! I spent a great deal of the playdate in time out.

Road Trip Rescue

This is great!

Mommy has had her new car about a month now. One of the bells and whistles on it is a DVD player. Mommy debated adding this option because she didn't want me to want/expect to watch a video every time I got in the car. She wanted it to be used for long road trips that can't be scheduled at nap time. She kept the little black box a secret from me until Wednesday, when the wonder of a drop-down screen was revealed. We were driving to Victoria (to see BaBa and my cousin Kelli, who's graduating from high school in the top 6% of her class and will be going to SFA on a track scholarship - Yeah!) and Max and Ruby made for a fun road trip.

First Oreo

I am trying very hard to open the Oreo to get to the creamy center...
I think I'll have to work on my technique!

Picnic Blanket

Mommy learned that it is quite amusing to give a two-year-old the job of spreading out the picnic blanket...

That was exhausting!

Lunch Date at Phil's

Sharing my Ice Cream with April

Nash showed me how to spin.

Strong Man Vaughan

Nash's face in the cow cut-out...
was just where I needed it to to plant a big wet one on him!

These two dolls have been attached to me for the past couple of days...

that is, until I found some interesting dirt to carry...

... and my poor baby was left on the ground.

We met the Segers for a lunch/play date at Phil's Ice House. After Mommy and April made us eat some lunch, we then got to have some fun!

Hey, I was Hungry!

All my life, my eating habits have been the major source of parental frustration. There are many meals where I don't eat anyting - not one bite. I really just don't care about eating. Given that Mommy and Daddy really like to eat, they often wonder where I came from! Every once in a while, out of the blue, I surprise them and do something like this. The plate above once held two eggs, a pancake and a piece of bacon. I made a "happy plate" and shocked those parents of mine!
