The past six months, since my diagnosis of Apraxia, have been filled with book-reading, information-gathering, internet-searching, DVD-watching, tear-wiping, therapy-attending, short/long-term-planning, goal-setting...
As you probably read, I finished my evaluation with the school district a couple of weeks ago. Mommy and Daddy had their important meeting yesterday to discuss what the speech therapist, the occupational therapist, the physical therapist, the classroom teacher and the counselor had to say about me. They had me pegged. They said I am perfectly bright and wonderful...I just can't talk. They are offering a two hour, twice-a-week program.
In the meantime, I have been doing yet another evaluation at The Capitol School. It is a private school whose focus is speech and language development. Each class has an incredibly small teacher-student ratio (as low as as 3:5 in one class), with the head teacher being a speech-language pathologist.
At the end of this, hopefully we'll know what the best fit is and where my needs will best be met...we're getting closer to making those big decisions. I seem to just "roll with the punches", even with so many changes to my routine.

You know my heart goes out to you!! It's so hard to know what is best for our girls, but one thing is certain...therapy is good for them!
